Grass (TV series)
Grass is a British television sitcom created by Simon Day and Matt Chatfield, which aired on BBC Three from 2003 to 2005. It is a spin-off from the BBC sketch show The Fast Show, featuring Simon Day reprising his character of Dave Nice, a former roadie for the band The Nice.
The series follows Dave, now going by the alias "Billy Bleach," as he attempts to disappear and start a new life in rural Norfolk after giving evidence against gangsters. He takes on the identity of a local farmer, despite having no experience or knowledge of farming. Much of the humor stems from Billy's attempts to adapt to rural life, his ineptitude as a farmer, and his interactions with the eccentric local villagers.
The supporting cast included Peter Davison as the solicitor, Gordon Brown, and Caroline Quentin as the local shop owner, Maggie. Grass ran for two series, with a Christmas special airing in 2005. It is known for its surreal humor and observational comedy.
