Grand (TV series)

Grand was an American prime-time soap opera that aired on NBC from January 18 to May 9, 1990. Created by Pamela K. Long, it revolved around the lives and scandals of the wealthy and powerful Grand family in the fictional town of Grand, Illinois.

The series starred a large ensemble cast, including David Dukes as Harris Grand, Michael York as Ian McLaren, Sharon Gless as Carol Anne Bouquet, Christina Pickles as Vivian Proctor, and Illeana Douglas as Janis Kuritsky. The plotlines centered on power struggles within the family, business deals gone awry, illicit affairs, and hidden secrets.

Despite its high production values and attempts to emulate the success of other prime-time soaps, Grand suffered from low ratings and was cancelled after one season consisting of only 22 episodes. It is often cited as an example of a show that had potential but failed to resonate with audiences due to its convoluted storylines and lack of a clear focal point.
