Glasgow Baillieston (Scottish Parliament constituency)
Glasgow Baillieston is a constituency of the Scottish Parliament (Holyrood). It elects one Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) by the first past the post method of election. It is one of eight constituencies within the Glasgow region, which elects seven additional members to produce a form of proportional representation for the region as a whole.
The constituency was created for the 2011 Scottish Parliament election, largely replacing the former Glasgow Baillieston constituency that existed from 1999 to 2011. That earlier constituency had different boundaries.
Glasgow Baillieston encompasses areas of the city of Glasgow to the east of the city centre, including Baillieston itself, as well as areas such as Easterhouse, Garrowhill, and parts of Mount Vernon.
For the purposes of the Scottish Parliament, Glasgow Baillieston is within the Glasgow electoral region. The other constituencies in the Glasgow region are Glasgow Anniesland, Glasgow Cathcart, Glasgow Kelvin, Glasgow Maryhill and Springburn, Glasgow Pollok, Glasgow Provan, and Glasgow Shettleston.
The current MSP for Glasgow Baillieston is from the Scottish National Party (SNP). The constituency has been held by the SNP since its creation in 2011. Election results for this constituency can be found on the official website of the Scottish Parliament and through reputable news outlets covering Scottish politics.
