Geddy Lee

Geddy Lee (born Gary Lee Weinrib on July 29, 1953) is a Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the lead vocalist, bassist, and keyboardist for the rock band Rush.

As a member of Rush, Lee was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. His distinctive high-register vocals, intricate bass lines, and progressive rock sensibilities have made him a highly influential figure in rock music.

Lee's musical style is characterized by his complex bass playing, which often incorporates elements of jazz, funk, and progressive rock. He is also known for his use of synthesizers and other electronic instruments, which he often incorporates into Rush's music. Beyond his technical prowess, Lee's songwriting contributions were integral to Rush's distinctive sound and conceptual themes, spanning science fiction, philosophy, and social commentary.

In addition to his work with Rush, Lee has also released a solo album, My Favourite Headache (2000). He is also a noted baseball enthusiast and collector of vintage baseball memorabilia, having authored Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass (2018) and Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass, Volume Two (2023) as well as contributing to several other books and publications.
