Gaelco

Gaelco, short for "GAlaxia ELectrónica COoperativa," was a Spanish arcade game developer and manufacturer. Founded in 1985, the company primarily focused on the production of arcade games and related hardware. Gaelco initially produced video arcade cabinets and distributed games from other companies in Spain. Later, it developed its own arcade game titles, becoming known for its distinctive style and influence within the Spanish and European arcade scene.

Some of Gaelco's more prominent games included World Rally, a popular racing game, and Radikal Bikers, another racing title with a more comedic and over-the-top style. Other notable games include Thunder Hoop, a basketball game; Splash!, a puzzle game; and Biomechanical Toy, a platform shooter. Gaelco games were known for their vibrant graphics, fast-paced gameplay, and often featured elements that catered to the specific preferences of the European arcade audience.

The company ceased operations in the late 1990s/early 2000s, but its games continue to be remembered and emulated by arcade game enthusiasts. Its contribution to the Spanish arcade game industry remains significant.
