GTV (Australian TV station)

GTV-9 is a commercial television station in Melbourne, Australia. It is owned and operated by the Nine Network and is branded as Nine Melbourne.

GTV-9 was one of the first television stations in Australia, launching on January 19, 1957, as part of the General Television Corporation (GTV). It was the first television station to broadcast in Melbourne and the second in Australia, following TCN-9 in Sydney.

The "GTV" prefix stands for "General Television", reflecting its original ownership. The "9" denotes its channel number.

Throughout its history, GTV-9 has been a prominent broadcaster of news, sports, and entertainment programming, both locally produced and imported from overseas. It has been responsible for creating and airing numerous iconic Australian television programs.

GTV-9's studios are located in Docklands, Melbourne, having moved from its original home in Richmond in 2011.
