GS (Swedish union)
GS, formerly known as Grafiska Facket, is a Swedish trade union representing workers in the forestry, wood processing, and graphics industries. Officially named GS – Facket för skogs-, trä- och grafisk bransch, it translates to "GS – The Union for the Forestry, Wood and Graphic Industry".
GS is a member of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation (Landsorganisationen i Sverige, LO). The union works to improve the wages, working conditions, and job security of its members through collective bargaining, political advocacy, and other forms of industrial action.
GS provides a range of services to its members, including legal assistance, training programs, and career advice. It also actively participates in debates concerning industry policy and sustainable forestry practices. The union is structured around local branches that represent members in specific workplaces and regions.
Historically, GS has played a significant role in the development of Swedish labor law and the expansion of social welfare programs. It continues to be a prominent voice for workers in the forestry, wood processing, and graphics sectors in Sweden.
