Fu River (Jiangxi)
The Fu River (撫河; Fǔ Hé) is a major river located in Jiangxi Province, China. It is a tributary of Poyang Lake, which in turn drains into the Yangtze River. The Fu River flows generally from south to north, passing through several counties and cities in Jiangxi.
Historically, the Fu River has been an important waterway for transportation and irrigation in the region. Its basin supports significant agricultural production, particularly rice cultivation. The river is also utilized for fishing and, increasingly, for tourism.
The Fu River basin is known for its varied topography, ranging from mountainous regions in the south to more fertile plains in the north. The river is susceptible to flooding during the rainy season, requiring ongoing efforts in flood control and water management. Water quality in the Fu River has been a subject of concern in recent years due to industrial and agricultural runoff. Various measures are being implemented to address pollution and protect the river's ecosystem.
