Frank Rogers (Brookside)

Frank Rogers was a fictional character from the British soap opera Brookside, which aired on Channel 4. He was portrayed by actor Bill Dean from the show's inception in 1982 until Dean's death in 2000.

Frank was one of the original residents of Brookside Close, occupying number 5. He was a staunch traditionalist, often displaying conservative views and acting as a counterpoint to some of the more liberal characters in the series. Initially working as an electrician, Frank's storylines often involved his struggles with unemployment, financial difficulties, and his family relationships.

He was married to Chrissy Rogers (played by Eithne Browne), and they had two children, Jimmy and Dawn. Their marriage experienced numerous challenges, including infidelity and differing opinions on social issues. Frank's relationship with his children was also often strained, particularly with Jimmy, who frequently clashed with his father's values.

Frank was known for his quick temper and his tendency to get into arguments with his neighbours. He was a complex character, often portrayed as both flawed and sympathetic. His presence on Brookside was a constant throughout its run, and his death marked a significant moment in the show's history. Frank Rogers represented a particular type of working-class Liverpudlian man, and his storylines often reflected the social and economic issues facing that demographic during the 1980s and 1990s.
