Euralille
Euralille is a major urban regeneration project in Lille, France, built around a high-speed rail station (Gare de Lille-Europe) served by the Eurostar and TGV. It serves as a significant business district and shopping center, effectively connecting Lille to London, Paris, and Brussels.
The project was conceived in the late 1980s and early 1990s and designed by architect Rem Koolhaas. Its primary goals were to revitalize a previously derelict industrial area and transform Lille into a European hub for business, commerce, and transportation.
Euralille incorporates a mix of office buildings, shopping malls (notably Euralille Centre), residential areas, and cultural institutions. It significantly contributed to Lille's economic growth and international profile. The area is well-served by public transportation, including metro and tram lines, in addition to the high-speed rail station. Euralille remains a notable example of large-scale urban development centered around transportation infrastructure.
