Ernie Stewart (umpire)

Ernie Stewart is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) umpire. He worked in the American League from 1973 to 1999, wearing uniform number 12 throughout his career.

Stewart was known for his calm demeanor and consistent strike zone. He officiated several notable games, including the 1990 World Series between the Cincinnati Reds and the Oakland Athletics, and the 1994 All-Star Game. He also worked multiple League Championship Series and Division Series.

Following his retirement from MLB umpiring, Stewart served as a Major League Baseball umpire supervisor. In this role, he was responsible for evaluating the performance of current umpires and providing feedback to help them improve. He has also been involved in training aspiring umpires.
