Emanuel Howe (British Army officer)

Emanuel Howe (c. 1700 – 1775) was a British Army officer and politician. He served in a variety of military roles throughout his career, rising to the rank of Lieutenant General.

Born into a prominent family, Howe entered the army and saw active service in various conflicts, including the War of the Austrian Succession. Details of his early career are somewhat scarce, but he steadily gained experience and promotion through the ranks.

He became a Member of Parliament for various constituencies, leveraging his military standing and family connections to secure political office. His parliamentary career ran concurrently with his military duties.

Howe's military service continued in the Seven Years' War (1756-1763), where he held command positions. He was known for his competence in logistical matters and managing troops.

He continued to rise in the army hierarchy, eventually achieving the rank of Lieutenant General. He died in 1775, leaving behind a record of long service to the Crown in both military and political spheres.
