Doomwatch

Doomwatch was a British science fiction television series that aired on the BBC from 1970 to 1972. The series centered around a fictional government scientific advisory agency, also named Doomwatch (short for "Doomsday Watch"), which investigated and combatted technological threats to the environment and society.

The team, usually led by the principled Dr. Spencer Quist (played by Nigel Davenport), would confront dangers arising from scientific advancement, often highlighting the unintended consequences and ethical dilemmas inherent in unchecked progress. These threats ranged from ecological disasters caused by pollution and industrial waste to genetically modified organisms running amok and mind-altering technologies.
