Dave Hill (guitarist)
Dave Hill (born April 4, 1946) is an English musician, best known as the lead guitarist and co-founder of the British rock band Slade.
Hill's distinctive flamboyant stage presence, characterized by his elaborate costumes and extreme hairstyles, made him a visually iconic figure in the glam rock era. His guitar playing style, while not always technically complex, contributed significantly to Slade's signature sound, particularly his use of feedback and sustained notes.
Hill remained a constant member of Slade throughout its various lineup changes and periods of varying success. After Slade disbanded in the early 1990s, he formed Slade II (later Slade), continuing to tour and perform the band's classic hits. This version of the band has seen several personnel changes over the years, with Hill remaining the sole original member.
While Noddy Holder was the band's frontman and songwriter, Hill's guitar work and visual presentation were integral to Slade's overall image and appeal. He is credited with helping to define the glam rock aesthetic and influencing subsequent generations of guitarists. He continues to perform and keep the Slade legacy alive through his current incarnation of the band.
