Charlevoix (federal electoral district)
Charlevoix was a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that existed from 1867 to 1949, and again from 2004 to 2015.
History:
The riding was originally created in 1867 upon Confederation and was one of the original 65 districts in Quebec. It elected a Member of Parliament to the House of Commons of Canada until it was abolished in 1947, coming into effect for the 1949 federal election. It was merged into the Charlevoix—Saguenay riding.
The riding was re-created in 2003 from parts of Charlevoix—Saguenay and Roberval ridings, coming into effect for the 2004 federal election.
Geography:
The district encompassed the regional county municipality of Charlevoix, as well as part of the Le Fjord-du-Saguenay regional county municipality. It was situated northeast of Quebec City, along the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River.
