Cernica

Cernica is a commune located in Ilfov County, Romania, situated east of Bucharest. It is composed of several villages: Cernica, Bălăceanca, Cățelu, Tânganu and Țipătești.

The commune is known for the Cernica Monastery, an important Romanian Orthodox monastery with a rich history dating back to the 17th century. The monastery is situated on an island in Lake Cernica, one of the several lakes in the area. These lakes are popular for recreation, including fishing and boating.
