Carabini

Carabini is a pluralized Italian word, and it refers to members of the Carabinieri, the national gendarmerie of Italy. The singular form is Carabiniere. The Carabinieri are a law enforcement agency with both military and civilian police duties. They are one of Italy's main police forces, responsible for general policing, maintaining public order, combating organized crime, and military policing duties.

The Carabinieri were founded in 1814 by King Victor Emmanuel I of Savoy. Initially, they served as the police force of the Kingdom of Sardinia. They played a significant role in the unification of Italy and have since evolved into a modern, highly regarded law enforcement organization.

The Carabinieri are distinctive for their formal uniform, including a distinctive bicorne hat, known as the lucerna, worn on ceremonial occasions. They operate throughout Italy and are structured with a hierarchical command structure, similar to a military organization.
