Capital Development Authority (Pakistan)
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is a public benefit corporation responsible for providing municipal services and managing the development of Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. Established in 1960, the CDA's mandate includes urban planning, infrastructure development, housing, environmental management, and the provision of essential services such as water supply, sanitation, and waste management.
The CDA operates under the administrative control of the Ministry of Interior. It is governed by a board typically headed by a chairman, and its organizational structure encompasses various directorates and departments responsible for specific functions. The CDA's activities are funded through a combination of government grants, taxes, and revenue generated from its own projects and services.
A key function of the CDA is the enforcement of building codes and zoning regulations within Islamabad. This includes regulating land use, approving building plans, and preventing unauthorized construction. The CDA also plays a role in preserving green spaces and promoting environmental sustainability within the city.
Over the years, the CDA has undertaken numerous development projects in Islamabad, including the construction of roads, bridges, housing schemes, and commercial centers. It continues to be a major player in the ongoing development and management of the city.
