Brimstone (TV series)

Brimstone is an American fantasy television series that aired for one season on Fox during the 1998–1999 television season.

Synopsis: The series centers on Ezekiel Stone (played by Peter Horton), a deceased police detective who is sent back to Earth from Hell with the mission of recapturing 113 escaped souls, all criminals who were sent to Hell before him. If he succeeds, Stone will be allowed into Heaven. His guide and tormentor is the Devil (played by John Glover), who occasionally provides cryptic clues or obstacles.

Premise: The show combines elements of police procedural drama with supernatural themes. Each episode typically involves Stone tracking down one of the escaped souls, who are identifiable by a brand on their skin. He uses his detective skills, along with his knowledge of their past crimes, to locate and confront them. Upon their recapture, their eyes burn out, signifying their return to Hell.
