Brian Hughes (footballer, born 1937)

Brian Hughes (born 16 January 1937) is a Welsh former professional footballer. He played as a centre-forward.

Hughes began his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1954, although he did not make a first-team appearance for them. He moved to Swansea Town in 1957, where he quickly established himself as a regular goalscorer. He played a key role in their promotion to the First Division in 1964.

After a successful spell at Swansea, Hughes signed for Hull City in 1966. He continued his prolific scoring record there before joining Swindon Town in 1968.

Hughes helped Swindon Town win the League Cup in 1969, defeating Arsenal 3-1 in the final. He retired from professional football shortly after.
