Bill White (basketball, born 1936)
William "Bill" White (born October 26, 1936) is a retired American professional basketball player. A 6'8" forward/center, White played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for five seasons.
White played college basketball at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he was a two-time All-American. He was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers in the 1958 NBA draft. However, he did not play in the NBA until the 1960-61 season, when he joined the St. Louis Hawks. He played for the Hawks for two seasons, then was traded to the Detroit Pistons in 1962. He played for the Pistons for three seasons. His best season was 1962-63, when he averaged 12.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He retired from the NBA in 1965.
After his NBA career, White worked as a teacher and coach.
