Bill Whitaker (journalist)
Bill Whitaker is an American television journalist and correspondent for 60 Minutes, the CBS News investigative newsmagazine. He joined CBS News in 1984 and has reported extensively on a wide range of domestic and international stories.
Whitaker's work has included covering major events such as the 2000 presidential election recount in Florida, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the AIDS crisis. He has also conducted numerous interviews with prominent figures in politics, business, and the arts.
Before joining 60 Minutes in 2014, Whitaker served as a CBS News correspondent based in Atlanta (1992-2014) and Los Angeles (1984-1992).
Whitaker is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History. He also holds a Master's degree in African American Studies from Boston University.
His work has earned him numerous accolades, including multiple Emmy Awards, a duPont-Columbia Award, and a George Foster Peabody Award.
