Bert Schneider (boxer)
Bert Schneider (born July 1, 1897, in Cleveland, Ohio; died February 20, 1986, in London, England) was an American boxer who won a gold medal in the welterweight division at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium.
Schneider, representing the United States, defeated Alexander Ireland of Great Britain in the final bout to secure the gold. He reached the final after defeating Aage Steen of Norway in the semi-final. Other notable opponents defeated in the tournament include Joseph Thomas of South Africa.
Little is known about Schneider's professional boxing career following the Olympics. Historical records are sparse regarding his activities after 1920, and his career is primarily recognized for his Olympic success. He emigrated to London later in life and passed away there in 1986.
