Behind the Mask (album)

Behind the Mask is the fifteenth studio album by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released in 1990. It was the first album since 1974's Heroes Are Hard to Find to not feature Lindsey Buckingham, who had departed the band in 1987. Billy Burnette and Rick Vito joined as guitarists and vocalists.

The album was produced by Fleetwood Mac with Richard Dashut and recorded at Rumbo Recorders in Canoga Park, California. It features songwriting contributions from all band members, including Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Billy Burnette, and Rick Vito.

Behind the Mask reached number 18 on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It also charted in several other countries, including the United Kingdom and Australia.

The album spawned the singles "Save Me" and "Love Is Dangerous". While Behind the Mask achieved commercial success, it received mixed reviews from critics, with some praising its musicianship but others criticizing the absence of Buckingham's signature sound.
