Baldet (lunar crater)
Baldet is a lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the west-southwest of the crater Sarton, and northeast of Chrétien.
The outer rim of Baldet is heavily eroded and incised by multiple impacts. The most notable of these is the smaller crater Baldet M, which intrudes into the southwest rim. Several smaller craters also lie along the rim to the north and east.
The interior floor of Baldet is relatively level but marked by several small and tiny craterlets. There is a slight rise near the geometric center, and the eastern half of the floor is somewhat uneven.
Baldet lies within the South Pole-Aitken basin, a vast impact crater on the far side of the Moon.
It is named after Fernand Baldet, a French astronomer.
