Audience (company)

Audience, Inc. (often stylized as Audience) was a technology company specializing in voice and audio processing solutions. The company was founded in 2000 and headquartered in Mountain View, California. Its primary focus was on developing and licensing noise reduction and voice enhancement technologies for mobile devices, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops.

Audience's core technology, known as EarSmart, employed algorithms to filter out background noise and improve voice clarity during phone calls and voice recordings. This technology aimed to enhance the user experience by making it easier to hear and be heard, particularly in noisy environments.

The company’s business model centered on licensing its audio processing intellectual property to manufacturers of consumer electronics. These manufacturers would then integrate Audience's technology into their products.

Audience was acquired by Knowles Corporation in 2014. Following the acquisition, Audience's technologies were integrated into Knowles' portfolio of audio solutions. The Audience brand name was discontinued after the acquisition.
