Astra 1C

Astra 1C was a communications satellite owned and operated by SES Astra (formerly Société Européenne des Satellites). Positioned at 19.2° East longitude, it was part of the Astra satellite system serving Europe. Launched in 1993, Astra 1C primarily provided television and radio broadcast services, focusing on digital and analog television channels for direct-to-home (DTH) reception. It was also used for data transmission and other communications applications. Over its lifespan, it contributed significantly to the expansion of satellite television services across Europe. The satellite was eventually replaced by newer generations of Astra satellites and was moved to a graveyard orbit at the end of its operational life. Its presence at 19.2° East helped establish that orbital position as a key location for satellite broadcasting to the European continent.
