Art Long
Art Long (1923-2011) was an American professional football player and college football coach. Long played as a halfback and defensive back.
Long was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He played college football at the University of Tulsa. During his time at Tulsa, he was a standout player and earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors.
He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 1946 NFL Draft. After being drafted, he played for the New York Giants and the Chicago Cardinals.
Following his playing career, Long transitioned into coaching. He held various coaching positions at the collegiate level, including stints at the University of Tulsa and the University of Arkansas. He was known for his knowledge of the game and his ability to develop young talent. Long retired from coaching in the late 1980s.
