Army of Me (band)
Army of Me is an American rock band formed in Washington, D.C., in 2005. The band's sound incorporates elements of alternative rock, pop, and indie rock. They are known for their energetic live performances and melodic songwriting.
History:
Army of Me was founded by Vince Scheuerman (vocals, guitar), Brad Parker (guitar), John Hutchins (bass), and Ethan Mentzer (drums). The band quickly gained a local following in the D.C. area, playing shows and building a fanbase. They released their debut EP, Contender, in 2006, which helped them gain wider recognition.
In 2007, Army of Me signed with Atlantic Records and released their debut full-length album, Sunset Stages. The album featured the singles "Going Through Changes" and "Perfecting Sound", which received radio airplay and helped the band break into the mainstream. They toured extensively in support of the album, opening for bands such as Mae and Cartel.
Following Sunset Stages, the band faced lineup changes and a period of relative inactivity. They independently released the EP Citizen in 2009. In 2011, they released their second full-length album, Failures, also independently.
Since then, Army of Me has remained active, releasing music and touring periodically. They continue to be a presence in the alternative rock scene, particularly known for their earlier work.
