Amplepuis
Amplepuis is a commune in the Rhône department in eastern France. It is located approximately 45 kilometers northwest of Lyon. The inhabitants of Amplepuis are known as Amplepuisiens (masculine) and Amplepuisiennes (feminine).
Historically, Amplepuis was associated with the textile industry, particularly the production of velvet. While the textile industry has declined, its legacy is preserved in the Musée du Tissage et de la Soierie (Museum of Weaving and Silk) in the town.
The commune's geography is characterized by rolling hills and forests. Amplepuis offers access to outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling. The town is part of the Beaujolais wine region, although it is not as centrally located within the prime Beaujolais vineyards as some other communes.
Administratively, Amplepuis is part of the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône and the canton of Thizy-les-Bourgs.
The population of Amplepuis is approximately 5,000.
