Aline (band)

Aline was a French indie pop band formed in Rouen, Normandy in 2005. The band was known for its melodic sound, reminiscent of classic French pop, and its introspective lyrics.

History

Aline was formed by Romain Guerret, who initially started the project as a solo act before expanding into a full band. The lineup solidified with the addition of Arnaud Pilard (drums), Romain Leiris (bass), and Jérémy Le Guerne (guitar/keyboards).

The band gained significant recognition with their 2012 debut album, Regarde le ciel. The album was critically acclaimed in France and helped establish Aline as a prominent force in the French indie music scene. Prior to Regarde le ciel, they released several EPs and singles, cultivating a devoted following.

Aline released a second album, La Vie électrique, in 2015. While well-received, it didn't achieve the same commercial success as their debut.

Sound and Style

Aline's music is often characterized by its blend of catchy melodies, retro influences, and introspective themes. Their sound draws inspiration from classic French pop music of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as British indie pop. Lyrically, their songs often explore themes of love, loss, and the complexities of modern life. Romain Guerret's distinctive vocals are a key element of their sound.
