Alcmeonis
Alcmeonis, in Greek mythology, is a patronymic, meaning "daughter of Alcmeon." It typically refers to Eriphyle, the daughter of Alcmeon and Arsinoe (or Alphesiboea). Eriphyle is a significant figure due to her involvement in the stories of the Epigoni and her later role in instigating the murder of Alcmeon by Phegeus' sons. Her story is intertwined with themes of familial loyalty, revenge, and the destructive power of greed, specifically her acceptance of the necklace of Harmonia from Polynices, which led to her husband Amphiaraus's death in the Theban war. Though "Alcmeonis" directly identifies a descendant of Alcmeon, it is often used as an alternative name for Eriphyle within mythological accounts.
