AM (Arctic Monkeys album)

AM is the fifth studio album by English rock band Arctic Monkeys, released in September 2013 by Domino Recording Company. It was produced by James Ford and co-produced by Josh Homme, frontman of Queens of the Stone Age.

The album's title is derived from the band's habit of releasing music late at night, similar to how The Velvet Underground released their albums. It features a blend of musical styles including hard rock, psychedelic rock, R&B, and hip hop, marking a departure from their earlier indie rock sound.

"AM" spawned several successful singles, including "R U Mine?", "Do I Wanna Know?", "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?", "One for the Road," and "Snap Out of It." The album received widespread critical acclaim, with many critics praising its sonic experimentation and songwriting.

Commercially, "AM" was a major success, topping charts in multiple countries, including the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand. It became the band's fifth consecutive number-one album in the UK, making them the first independent-label act to achieve that feat. The album has since been certified multi-platinum in several territories.

The album's artwork features a black background with a white waveform, representing the sound of Alex Turner's voice saying the letter "A." The minimalist design is a key part of the album's overall aesthetic.
