2001 Harrah's 500 (NASCAR)
The 2001 Harrah's 500 was a NASCAR Winston Cup Series race held on October 7, 2001, at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas. It was the 29th race of the 2001 NASCAR Winston Cup season. The race was 334 laps long (501 miles).
The race was won by Terry Labonte, driving the #5 Kellogg's Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. It was Labonte's first win since 1999 at the same track and his final career NASCAR Cup Series victory. Jeff Gordon finished second, and Dale Jarrett finished third.
The race is also notable for being held less than a month after the September 11th attacks, and for its patriotic pre-race ceremonies. It featured a flyover by military aircraft, and many teams ran special paint schemes honoring those affected by the attacks.
