Zdrój Ciechocinek (formally CKS Zdrój Ciechocinek, short for Ciechociński Klub Sportowy Zdrój Ciechocinek) is a Polish football club based in the spa town of Ciechocinek, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. The club currently competes in the regional league (klasa okręgowa), group Kuyavia-Pomerania II.
History
The club traces its origins to 1922, when the Harcerski Klub Sportowy (Scout Sports Club) was founded. Two years later, on 3 May 1924, it was renamed Ciechociński Klub Sportowy „Zdrój”. The first president of the club was Stanisław Tomaszewski.
Over the decades, Zdrój Ciechocinek experienced several periods of success:
- 1982/1983 season – promotion to the III liga (Konin-Włocławek group).
- 1983/1984 season – finished 1st in the Konin-Włocławek league after competing with Kujawiak Włocławek.
- 2004/2005 season – again promoted to III liga (group 2), finishing 5th in the 2005/2006 season.
- 2009/2010 season – relegated from III liga to IV liga.
Thanks to Ciechocinek's reputation as a spa resort, the club frequently hosted national and occasionally international sporting events, including cycling races, swimming competitions, and friendly matches against Ekstraklasa teams such as Lech Poznań (on the club's 50th anniversary), Legia Warsaw, Zawisza Bydgoszcz, and Žalgiris Vilnius.
