Zac Posen (born October 24, 1980) is an American fashion designer known for his glamorous, sculptural, and often dramatic gowns and ready-to-wear collections. Born and raised in New York City, Posen began his fashion education at Parsons School of Design and later attended Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.
Posen launched his eponymous luxury fashion label, ZAC POSEN, in 2001 at the age of 20. His debut collection quickly garnered significant attention and attracted a high-profile clientele, establishing him as a prominent figure in the fashion world. His designs are characterized by their intricate detailing, classic Hollywood-inspired silhouettes, luxurious fabrics, and impeccable craftsmanship, making them a staple on red carpets and major events.
Throughout his career, Posen has dressed numerous celebrities and public figures. In addition to his main luxury line, he expanded his brand to include diffusion lines such as Z Spoke and collaborations, notably with David's Bridal for their "Truly Zac Posen" collection.
Beyond designing, Posen gained wider public recognition through his role as a judge on the popular television series Project Runway from 2013 to 2017. He also served as the creative director for the women's collection at Brooks Brothers from 2014 until 2020, where he revitalized their classic American aesthetic.
In 2019, House of Z, the parent company of his luxury fashion label, announced it would cease operations, marking a significant shift in his career. Since then, Posen has continued to engage in creative projects, including costume design for ballet and opera, culinary pursuits, and other collaborations, maintaining his presence in the creative arts.
