Zübeyir Aydar

Zübeyir Aydar (born 1961 in Şırnak, Turkey) is a prominent Kurdish politician and a leading figure within the Kurdish political movement. He is best known for his long-standing association with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its umbrella organization, the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK).

Aydar began his political career within legal political parties in Turkey. He served as a Member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey for the pro-Kurdish Democracy Party (DEP) from 1991 until the party's closure in 1994. Following the banning of DEP, Aydar went into exile and gradually ascended through the ranks of the PKK and later the KCK.

He has held significant leadership positions within the KCK, notably serving as the Chairman of the KCK Executive Council, a key governing body for the organization's various political, social, and military components. In this role, he has been involved in strategic decision-making and has often been seen as a spokesperson for the Kurdish movement's political demands.

Due to his leadership role in the PKK/KCK, which are designated as terrorist organizations by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union, Zübeyir Aydar is a wanted individual. Turkey has issued an arrest warrant for him, and the United States has offered rewards for information leading to his capture. His activities are primarily focused on advocating for Kurdish rights, autonomy, and self-determination in the context of the ongoing Kurdish-Turkish conflict.
