Definition
Yuldong Park is a public urban park located in Sujeong-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. The park provides recreational facilities, green space, and cultural amenities for residents and visitors.
Overview
Established in the early 1990s, Yuldong Park occupies an area of approximately 100,000 square meters along the banks of the Yuldongcheon (Yuldong Stream). The park is managed by the Seongnam City Government and is open year-round without an admission fee. It is a popular destination for walking, jogging, picnicking, and family outings, and it is particularly noted for its artificial lake, fountain, and a bungee‑jumping tower.
Etymology/Origin
The name “Yuldong” (율동) derives from the surrounding neighborhood and the Yuldong Stream that runs through the area. The Korean characters 율 (yul) can be interpreted as “rhythm” or “law,” and 동 (dong) means “village” or “neighborhood,” but the name is primarily a toponym rather than a descriptive term.
