Xiaoshun River

The Xiaoshun River (Chinese: 孝顺江; pinyin: Xiàoshùn Jiāng) is a significant waterway located in Zhejiang Province, China. It is a major tributary within the larger Qiantang River basin, playing an important role in the hydrography of the central Zhejiang region, particularly around the city of Jinhua.

Geography

The Xiaoshun River originates in the mountainous areas within Jinhua County, Zhejiang Province. Its course generally flows northwesterly, passing through agricultural lands and suburban areas before entering the urbanized district of Jinhua. The river is notable for its role in the formation of the Wujiang River; it converges with the Yiwu River (义乌江) at a confluence point within Jinhua to form the Wujiang River (婺江). The Wujiang River then continues its course to join the Lan River (兰江), which in turn flows into the Fuchun River (富春江), ultimately becoming part of the Qiantang River system, which empties into Hangzhou Bay on the East China Sea.

The Xiaoshun River's watershed encompasses a substantial area, contributing significantly to the water resources of the Jinhua region. Historically and presently, the river has been vital for:
