Wolfurt

Wolfurt is a municipality in the western Austrian state of Vorarlberg, situated in the Bregenz district. The community lies in the Rhine Valley, between the cities of Bregenz and Dornbirn, at an elevation of approximately 434 m (1,424 ft) above sea level. Its geographic coordinates are 47°28′23.08″ N 9°45′14.11″ E.

Geography and Demographics
The municipality covers a total area of 10 km² (3.9 sq mi). As of 1 January 2018, Wolfurt had a population of 8,446 residents, resulting in a population density of roughly 840 inhabitants per km² (2,200 sq mi). Historical population data show steady growth since the late 19th century, with notable increases during the post‑World‑War II period.

Administration
Wolfurt is governed by a mayor (Bürgermeister); as of the latest available information the office is held by Christian Natter of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). The municipality uses the postal codes 6922 and 6960 (Wolfurt‑Bahnhof) and the telephone area code 05574. Vehicle registration plates bear the abbreviation “B” for the Bregenz district.

Transport
Wolfurt railway station is an intermediate stop on the Vorarlberg railway line (Vorarlbergbahn), which runs north‑south through the state. The station is served by regional services S1 and R5 of the Vorarlberg S‑Bahn, operated by Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB).
