William H. Vernon

William H. Vernon (born William Henry Vernon, May 26, 1871 – August 20, 1927) was an American professional baseball player. He primarily played as an outfielder during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Vernon was born and died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His professional baseball career spanned several years, predominantly in minor league baseball. He played for numerous teams in various minor leagues, including the Atlantic League, Eastern League, and Pennsylvania State League. Vernon's minor league career was more extensive and notable than his brief tenure in Major League Baseball (MLB). He made a limited appearance in MLB for the Boston Beaneaters (now the Atlanta Braves) in 1897.

As a baseball player, Vernon was an outfielder. His MLB career consisted of only three games during the 1897 season. In these games, he recorded one hit in ten at-bats. While his time in the major leagues was brief, he was a consistent presence in the minor leagues for over a decade, playing for teams such as the Scranton Miners, Wilmington Peaches, and Allentown Peanuts.
