William “Will” Crothers (born June 14 1987) is a Canadian rower who has represented Canada in multiple international competitions, including three Olympic Games. He began rowing while attending Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute (KCVI) in Ontario and later competed for the University of Washington Huskies.
Crothers first gained national prominence when he and his partner Rob Gibson won the senior coxless pair at the 2005 Canadian high‑school championships, earning him the title of Ontario Male Athlete of the Year that same year. He progressed to senior‑level competition, securing a bronze medal in the men’s eight at the 2006 World Rowing Championships (Dorney) and a gold medal in the coxed four at the 2011 World Rowing Championships (Bled).
At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Crothers was a member of Canada’s men’s eight that finished second, earning an Olympic silver medal. He subsequently competed in the men’s coxless four at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, where the crew placed sixth in the A‑final, and again in the same event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021), finishing eighth overall.
In addition to his Olympic achievements, Crothers has medaled at other major events. He won gold medals in both the coxless four and the eight at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto and earned a bronze medal in the men’s eight at the 2014 World Rowing Cup in Lucerne.
Crothers stands 195 cm tall and weighs approximately 95 kg. Throughout his career, he has been affiliated with the Kingston Rowing Club and has contributed to Canada’s reputation as a competitive force in international rowing.
