Wielbrandowo

[[File:Wielbrandowo in Malechowo Gmina.png|thumb|Location of Wielbrandowo within Gmina Malechowo]] Wielbrandowo is a [[village]] in the administrative district of [[Gmina Malechowo]], within [[Sławno County]], [[West Pomeranian Voivodeship]], in north-western [[Poland]]. It lies approximately 7 kilometres (4 mi) north-east of [[Malechowo]], 10 km (6 mi) south-west of [[Sławno]], and 166 km (103 mi) north-east of the regional capital [[Szczecin]].

Geography and Administration

Wielbrandowo is situated in the historical region of [[Pomerania]]. Administratively, it is part of the [[West Pomeranian Voivodeship]], one of the 16 [[voivodeships]] (provinces) of Poland. It falls under [[Sławno County]] (powiat sławieński) and specifically the rural [[gmina]] (administrative district) of Malechowo.

History

Prior to 1945, the area was part of [[Germany]] and known by its German name, Ville. Following the decisions of the [[Potsdam Agreement]] at the end of [[World War II]], the region became part of Poland, and the village was given its current Polish name. The German-speaking population was largely expelled and replaced by Polish settlers.

Demographics

As of the 2006 population estimate, Wielbrandowo had a population of 100 inhabitants. Population figures for small villages can fluctuate.
