Wesley G. Bush (born 1949) is an American business executive known for his tenure as chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Northrop Grumman Corporation, a major aerospace and defense contractor. His career has encompassed senior leadership positions in the aerospace industry, as well as board service for several large corporations.
Early life and education
Bush earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University in 1971. He subsequently obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1973.
Career
- Early career: After completing his education, Bush began his professional career in the aerospace sector, holding engineering and management roles at LTV Aerospace.
- Northrop Grumman: Bush joined Northrop Grumman (then Northrop) in 1990, where he held a series of senior positions, including senior vice president and chief financial officer. He was appointed president of the company in 1999. In 2003, Bush succeeded Kent Kresa as chairman and CEO of Northrop Grumman, a role he held until 2009. During his tenure, the company pursued several major acquisitions and expanded its presence in defense and aerospace markets.
- Post‑Northrop roles: Following his departure from Northrop Grumman, Bush has served on the boards of several prominent corporations, including Boeing Company, Chevron Corporation, and Olin Corporation.
