Weinan is a prefectural-level city in the eastern part of Shaanxi province, China. It is situated in the fertile Guanzhong Plain, east of the provincial capital Xi'an, and is one of the oldest and most culturally significant areas in China.

Weinan is located in the southeastern part of the Guanzhong Plain, bordered by the Yellow River to the east (separating it from Shanxi province), the Qin Mountains (Qinling) to the south, and the Loess Plateau to the north. The Wei River, a major tributary of the Yellow River, flows through the city from west to east. The terrain is generally flat in the central plain areas, rising to mountains in the south and hills in the north.The climate is a semi-arid, monsoon-influenced continental climate, characterized by hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters.
