Competition format
- Each lifter performed two types of lifts: the snatch, and the clean and jerk.
- Every athlete was allowed three attempts in each lift; the highest successful attempt in each was recorded.
- The sum of the best snatch and the best clean and jerk determined the athlete’s total.
- In the event of a tie on total weight, the lighter body weight ranked higher; if still tied, the athlete who achieved the total first was placed higher.
