Wayne Alvin Rutledge (January 5, 1942 – October 5, 2004) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Los Angeles Kings and in the World Hockey Association (WHA) for the Houston Aeros.
Born in Barrie, Ontario, Rutledge began his junior career with the Barrie Flyers in 1959. He turned professional in the early 1960s, playing in several minor leagues before making his NHL debut with the Los Angeles Kings in the 1967–68 season. In his rookie NHL season, he recorded a 21–15–5 record with a 2.88 goals-against average and two shutouts, helping the expansion Kings reach the playoffs.
Rutledge played 82 career NHL games (all with the Kings) between 1967 and 1970, compiling a record of 28 wins, 38 losses, and 7 ties, with a 3.36 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage. He later moved to the WHA, where he played for the Houston Aeros from 1972 to 1978, winning 94 games in 176 appearances. Over his combined NHL and WHA career, he amassed 122 wins in 257 regular-season games.
Rutledge died of stomach cancer on October 5, 2004, in Huntsville, Ontario, at the age of 62.
