Walter Smishek (May 31 1934 – March 22 2022) was a Canadian educator and politician in the province of Saskatchewan. A member of the New Democratic Party (NDP), he served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Regina North electoral district from 1971 to 1978. During his tenure in the provincial government of Premier Allan Blakeney, Smishek held several cabinet portfolios, including Minister of Education and Minister of Community Services.
