Wallace Miles (born August 1, 1989) is an American former professional football wide receiver who played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Ottawa Redblacks, Edmonton Eskimos, and Toronto Argonauts. He is a Grey Cup champion (2015) and later transitioned to a career in commercial construction management.
Early Life and Education
Miles was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and attended Westlake High School, where he was a four-time team MVP and four-year team captain in soccer. He played only two years of varsity football in high school, initially as a placekicker, and did not play wide receiver until the final game of his senior year. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
College Career
Miles played college football for the North Carolina A&T Aggies. He walked on as a placekicker but was quickly converted to wide receiver and redshirted in 2007. Over his collegiate career:
- 2008: 11 games (7 starts), 26 receptions for 188 yards and one touchdown
- 2009: 10 games (9 starts); also served as placekicker, converting 2 of 5 field goal attempts
- 2010: 11 games (9 starts), 34 receptions for 508 yards
- 2011: 70 receptions for 1,048 yards and six touchdowns
Professional Football Career
Miles went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft and was rated the 222nd best wide receiver by NFLDraftScout.com. He signed with the Detroit Lions on May 14, 2012, and was released on August 31, 2012.
He was signed by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on October 4, 2012, appearing in one game that season. In 2013, he dressed in three games (all starts) with 11 receptions for 158 yards and one touchdown. On December 16, 2013, Miles was selected in the first round of the 2013 CFL Expansion Draft by the Ottawa Redblacks, where he played in 15 games (14 starts) during the team's inaugural 2014 season, recording 50 catches for 732 yards and four touchdowns.
Miles signed with the Edmonton Eskimos on February 12, 2015, dressing in four games with 16 catches for 131 yards. The Eskimos defeated the Redblacks in the 103rd Grey Cup on November 29, 2015, making Miles a Grey Cup champion. He was released the following day. He signed with the Toronto Argonauts on June 3, 2016, appearing in six games (4 starts) with 13 receptions for 127 yards, before being released on September 19, 2016.
Post-Football Career
After football, Miles transitioned to the construction industry. He worked as a Project Manager at Level Construction Services, Inc., and later joined Carroll Daniel Construction Company, where he progressed from Project Engineer to Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, and Senior Project Manager. He specializes in public school construction in the Atlanta area.
In 2021, Miles published an autobiography titled UNDERR8TED: The Route That Caught An NFL Dream.
Personal Life
Miles resides in the Atlanta, Georgia area. He has been active in mentorship and advocacy for greater African American representation in construction industry leadership roles.
