Waldbach-Mönichwald

Waldbach-Mönichwald is a municipality in the district of Bruck‑Mürzzuschlag in the Austrian state of Styria. The municipality was established on 1 January 2015 as part of the Styria municipal structural reform, which merged the former independent municipalities of Walda​bach and Mönichwald.

Geography
The municipality is situated in the northern foothills of the Eastern Alps, approximately 30 kilometres north‑west of the regional capital Bruck an der Mur. It lies within the Mürz Valley and is traversed by the Waldbach stream, a tributary of the Mürz River. The area encompasses a mixture of forested hills, agricultural land, and small settlements.

Administrative Division
Waldbach-Mönichwald is composed of the cadastral communities (Katastralgemeinden) of Waldbach, Mönichwald, and several smaller localities such as Thörl, Pichl, and St. Johann. The municipal council (Gemeinderat) is elected for a five‑year term and is responsible for local governance, including infrastructure, education, and cultural affairs.
